Arthur, Albert’s older brother, also studied at the Arts Student League and exhibited at the New York World’s fair in 1939 and then at the American Artist’s Congress a year later as well as at the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco.  He painted WPA murals at the University of Oregon and in Pendleton with Martina Gangle Curl.  He painted documentation of the shipyard workers during WWII and gained a national reputation for social commentary.  He joined his brother at the Oregon Coast for 18 years, but focused more on figures rather than landscapes.  He also painted right up to his death dying shortly after his brother.  Good friends with Martina Gangle Curl and her husband Hank, Arthur was an active supporter of labor rights.
